IF MOI HATH SINNETH
but I gotta get’em in while I can~!
—yup! A snap of an individual. Namely this cheery chappie with a toothy grin. He’s advertising gods alone know what (travel, I think) in a shop window in Invercargill.
Possibly I’m a bit dense and don’t understand the concept of Community. Or possibly I’m desperate and lack a photo, any photo, that might be twisted to align with an interpretation of the word. Nay, not so …
I was merely strolling by and the concept of ‘community’ seemed entirely apt for and served by this one image: here we have a personable young chap dressed to represent an aviator. For all I know he might even be an aviator moonlighting as a model doing aviators … but my bet is professional model quietly earning his crust.
TO TAKE THAT SHOT
of course was a boy scout with a box Brownie or (more likely) a professional photographer with a state-of-the-art camera. He/she/it would have been recruited by someone—possibly a professional agency—fulfilling a stated need by other professionals seeking to improve their professional market share; in this case people selling airline services and accommodation and stuff.
are extremely complex organisms constantly balancing on knife-edges of bankruptcy, labour disputes, government whim, greenie compliances, tax changes, rising fuel costs, public tastes … dammit, they have their problems and are very good at it. They use airports which are also complex organisms stuffed with busy crust-earners providing all kinds of services from dog-walking to life-and-limb highly trained Fire and Emergency professionals … all of whom both serve and constitute a very much larger (dare I finally say it?) Community.
of busy buyers and sellers, a community spanning the entire globe and (get this~) a wee bit too large for moi to photograph—ergo my token shot above, the ‘block representing the pyramid’ as it were. The happy smiling cheerful chappie with the toothsome grin who may (or not) be what he represents.
And now back to our challenge …
WHICH WAS OF COURSE
to photograph a Community. Hell, that’s a toughie … bugger: I think I’ll pass, this time …
