WPC: trio (3)

Oh dear …

DOES A TRIPLICITY

count as a trio?

At the risk of being accused of stretching a definition to make a point (eeek!) I hereby make an offering (make of it what you will)—

There. We’re legal—three of ’em (phew). Invercargill has all mod cons but I don’t know how much patronage they get in these days where everyone has a celephone or several. Hell, I haven’t used one of these since they were painted red, surrounded you on all sides  and sucked the pennies out of every pocket you had.

“Mr Argus … Sir?”

“Yes, Little Ollivia?”

“Sir … what’s a ‘penny’?”

“… … You’re working your ticket, Kid.”

And on the way back from visiting the far far distant handyman store (Invercargill is well endowed with ‘spread out’ — a concept taken to ridiculous extremes that make a total mockery of City Hall’s wishful description ‘Central Business District’) I passed by the Church Of A Million Bricks. The sidewalk out front was being revamped so I cut through the church grounds and as I was passing what looked to be the detritus of a herd of rampaging vandals I stopped for this—

—and peering within thought that Coventry Cathedral can’t have looked a great deal different after Hitler’s merry men had passed overhead during the night.

I staggered off trying to reconcile that posted warning with the “All Welcome” just above it. A pity about the truly lovely doors though, which (please excuse artistic licence) used to look like this—

—but there we go, and there you are. A whole trio of snaps; enjoy!

“Mr Argus … Sir?”

“Yes, Little Ollivia?”

“Sir … why not give ’em a bonus snap, by way of reward for staying the course?”

“…  …  …  …  …  … you sure know how to win friends, Kid!”

So here you are courtesy of Miss Olive; a trio, sort of (if ever you’ve seen the movie ‘Romancing The Stone’ you’ll be familiar with the landmark that this tree reminds me of)(the ‘Devil’s fork’) …
