So … to begin with, better add my wee salute to the inevitable zillions of ‘peeling paint’ images sailing under this textures flag—

textures. Boom boom~!

In Invercargill there’s a lovely new hospital. State-of-the-art everything, all mod-con bells and whistles … hell, the nurses don’t even rustle any more. But the old one has such character~! Sadly she’s doomed, demoted to demolition status by some distant demon lacking in soul. The above snap is from one well-aged panel around the back … but if only those tatty textures could speak … what tales would not they tell us, being as the fire escape from the Nurses’ Home is right beside them and probably saw a lot of nocturnal traffic …

—around the back of this lot. Moving on, with a nostalgic sigh—the old dog too was young, once …

… this snapped on one of my walks. I tried to capture the texture of water and all I got was the texture of the stream-bed. Sort of—no way was I going to get closer, that water is COLD on the ol’ paws …

I read in a magazine once that “most folks take snaps but photographers take photos; and a photographer can go into a ploughed field and emerge with a whole roll of good shots“.

Good on him. Her. It. Them … I didn’t go in, just stopped in passing and snapped. With two of the world’s biggest not-a-sheepdog types enthusiastically sniffing my lower extensions. The raised hackles were a redundant touch, I was already wishing myself a loooooong way away. Got me snap though (please excuse blur).

Is that texture, or what?

And on the way home—

—from today’s walk I happened across a perfectly innocent schlogg of old string that someone had dropped at the side of the road. Either that or some witch’s knitting fell of her broom; whatever, I took the time to get the shot and was tooted by the passing cars. It’s nice to give someone something interesting to talk about at dinner …

AND to finish, a shot of some ice crystalabra on the outside deck window. I noticed them through the ranch-slider, grabbed camera and galloped out to get the shot and streaked back in. Streaked being the operative word—I was scantily clad and it was an oodle below out there. The texture of my skin when I got back inside would have made an interesting shot but I don’t know how well blue goosebumps look in a snap …

More soon (my turn for the shower—a gentleman, I let her go first.) (She always gets it just right ~ boom boom!)
